Right now, we are in the midst of a world in which various groups of big government organizations around the world are trying to build big systems to manage complex vaccination logistics and appointment systems.
We saw it happen with the rollout of healthcare reform in the US many years ago - and the implementation of one big, large legacy system that simply could not keep up. It wasn’t until a group of senior executives brought in their Silicon Valley, fast-world tech smarts that a reliable, scalable system was built.

The interesting thing is that the need to understand and manage these complex issues has not gone away, so my challenge became one of - “How do I deliver this insight but through a distinctly unfriendly format.” People were ‘zoomed out’ within a month of the start of the pandemic.
And with that in mind, there’s a lot to learn about how to confront a complex future through our lessons from the past. Stay tuned!

Have you ever noticed you are surrounded by people who are solving a problem that doesn’t need to be solved? Doing work that doesn’t need to be done? Following routines that are no longer necessary? A situation where everyone is doing something but no one remembers why?
There are many other examples of redundant, unnecessary work focused on non-existent problems. Overanalyzing data. Rebranding efforts that involve a perfectly good brand image. Automating tasks that don’t need cost-cutting. Forms that are due in duplicate and triplicate and more. An overreliance on legal risk management to try to minimize even the smallest of risks.
